Chinese New Year Eve: Part II (Wednesday, January 22, 2004)

(continued from yesterday)

After 3 short hrs of short sleep, I woke up at 5:15am. The rest were still dozing. Decided to sneak out from Ginway's room and go home 1st (though the rest of GW's family were already awake). Managed to flag down a taxi, which much to my surprise was still using the midnight surcharge. Anxiety gripped me as I only have $7 left. Took a gamble and headed towards Bedok MRT, and it paid off as I paid only $4.50. Tried to take a train home but the earliest east-bound train would only come at 6:14 am. I wanted to wait for the train, but after some time realised that my farecard would not be so patient. Wasted 40cents and went to the interchange, where the bus was more reliable. In the end, I reached home at around 6:30 am. Took a quick shower before going to school.

Miraculously I met the "band of brothers" along the way to RJ. Talk about coincidence. Quickly reunited before reaching the hall where the masses were. Finally made it to the 1st CNY celebrations in 2 yrs as I was sick in the previous. THE only noteworthy event was the lion dance, in which Alvin Tan was performing. The rest were average, where their singing were comparatively much better here than heard in bio lab last week (and hence resulted in a loss of concentration). Ended quite early. The band of brothers proceeded to Macs to have an early breakfast b4 going to Paradis? (unsure) to LAN at a cheap rate of $1 an hour.

At the end of the day, I went to Raymond's house to collect my $10 debt before retreating back to the comforts of my home. Happy Chinese New Year to all :)

Pre Chinese New Year : Part I (Tuesday, January 20, 2004)

Went back with Raymond and co. after lessons. Followed Raymond to Tampines since I had nothing to do once I had reached home. Apparently he was supposed to meet Serene to settle his $25 debt, but failed to meet. Nevertheless, we went to Raymond's house to get a change to civilian clothes before going to Pavilion to play LAN. Played Warcraft 3 co-op, though at an expensive rate. Later I was persuaded by Raymond to go to Yeofeng's house for BBQ and a sleepover. Went reluctantly, as I was quite tired. (and miraculously wasn't sick from yesterday).

Met Julian Poh and Zhengxian along the way at Bedok interchange. Yeofeng's house is at Baywater condo, where his classmates and teacher had already gathered. Ginway was there also. We went to the small stone table to talk about anything under the stars. Sadly, none of Yeofeng's classmates spared a thought for us. We went to East Coast to have supper at 1 am, then walked to the jetty to look at the stars. The stars are so beautiful,...and it reminded me of the Desert Rose, she whom I missed a lot. Felt a pang of loneliness in my heart, but I guessed it have to be this way for the time being. Somehow lost among the stars when Yeofeng complained that he wanted to sleep, and couldn't accomodate all 5 of us. We scolded Yeofeng amongst ourselves while walking back, and we felt that at least we should leave his place in dignity, as Yeofeng seemed to be in a bad mood, and thus rejected his offer to squeeze all 5 of us in his house even though he said earlier that it can only house 3 of us.

Now the 5 of us felt like refugees (or beggars) and had nowhere to turn to for the night. We had a quick bath before planning our next moves. We were about to go to the park to sleep under the stars when Ginway suggested going to his house, which was nearby. Thus we spent the remainder of the night (or rather early morning) at Ginway's cluttered room. We passed around the class photo of 2S03I, where we had discussions about the gals in raymond's class. All agreed that 3I had a high % of chio bus in it. Time really flies past when we were talking about them.

Though I saw the Desert Rose in the photo, it was no substitute, as the photo is only a shadow of the real person. I was cherishing the time I spent with her before tiredness overcame me.

Rainy Day. (Monday, January 19, 2004)

Had soccer early in the morning for PE, where I miraculously managed to save goals from Andrew Lam, eg. when I fell down and somehow along the way intercepted a ball heading to the goal with my back. Quite relaxing as a goalkeeper. Just have to sit down and watch the action, as my side's attacking power is zhai.

Later went to Mac's during Cl. Along the way I met 3I ppl, some of whom have to rush to Body Worlds around 2. It rained and gradually became heavier. My class were stranded at macs, with 10 mins to spare from chem makeup. So I decided to borrow one umbrella from Macs and go and scout for more. Came back with big ones at first (borrowed from council). Along the way I met some of my frens, also stranded in the relentless rain. Went back to get all the small umbrellas together with Adrian. Ivan and the rest of the 3I ppl decided to wait for the rain to stop. Benedict lent me his red OG shirt , which was very nice. I came back to class some 1/2 hr late.

Training started in the dreary weather, where 200m X10 was cancelled to do a slower circuit. Wore the red shirt as my PE shirt I had left to dry outside was wet. At the end of the day, I came back soaked thoroughly and tired.

Sheep's heart (Friday, January 16, 2004)

Today I had a late start. Woke up at 645am, which was more than an hr off schedule. Skipped breakfast and quickly went to take a cab, though it took some time. Was so impressed with the cab for the 1st time, who managed to send me to sch on time, that i gave him the change. Found Ray and Ken Toh waiting 4 me at the MRT station and briskly walked to RJ, which amazingly took only 10 mins.

Started the morning lecture at a lofty position, good enuf to see the Desert Rose without turning my head... Somehow, my hair seems to grow very fast, curly one day and straight the next; her ponytail doesn't look to increase as day passes by, but she still looks as beautiful as ever...

Everything proceeded as schedule, though phys prac was just a very long tutorial and bio prac was a bit more interesting. Wee Keat, Whitney, Pei Ying and I had a hands-on xperience with a sheep's heart (must have been quite a lazy fat one). Smelt horrible. I actually wanted to just proceed on without gloves, but realised that it stank more than the cow's heart at RI long time ago, and I do not want to leave an odour in my hands. (next time how to hold hands like that :)?

Just hope my angbaos can reach 2 of my frens on time, and I pray P wont read mine, coz it meant to be private . Spend all my creative energy, drawing skills on them till 2.30 last night(which explains the late start). I really hope they like the cards. :)

Burnt out. (Monday, January 12, 2004)

Just came back from training. I felt burnt out after enduring both PE and track, which was draining physically and mentally. I was saddened by the fact that my arrival home was greeted by the flustered looks of my parents, worried for my younger sis. It was already 930pm. Always wilful and rebellious, i just hope that she will change one day. These daily disputes of my parents and her are draining, and especially after i got hurt during basketball today. Somehow I felt more guilty knocking my fren on his chin than my scratch on the head. Alvin Tan must have felt worse, as he had swollen gum. We went to Macs during Chinese. So fortunate to have so many classmates together with the 6 of us...though i never said it explicitly, at least half the class is reunited during chinese...=)

Today must have been a special day for RJ. Coincidentally many CCAs decided to train today. Wow....and it used to be track as d only cca training in RJ during the holz. My spirits was lifted when I met her =), so rare to find such a smart, sweet and beautiful gal in school, juz like the desert rose...
I just wish tmr PE will be less demanding...as i need to rest my body....

Goodnight to (whoever is reading this)

Flag Day (Saturday, July 18, 2003)

Supposed to start at 9am. in the morning. Rushed there and found out that kiasu ppl had already started flag day by the time i had reached Orchard mrt. Met a fellow tracker standing outside Wisma Atria. I thought the start point was at Far East Shopping Centre. Ran all the way there and the old guard told me it was the wrong place...wah...waste so much energy even b4 the flag has started.
Ran to the Far East PLaza...didn't expect quite a huge turnout. Saw a few trackers (like me), probably desperate to get CIP pts. I went to collect my flag and met Chun Wee. Went to the underpass back to Orchard MRT. Some RJ gals are so smart,...they camp at every entrance to the MRT and holding flags, kinda reminds me of a filter. Met Daniel who also made the same mistake as me. Since Orchard looks hopelessly saturated with flaggers, the trio of us decided to go back to Bishan, our alma mater. Collected some money along the way and got a few juniors, basketballers, strangers, and 02 scouts. Then proceeded to Toa Payoh MRT station and decided to follow the ingenious RJ gals..Sadly, there were only the 3 of us and 6 exits. Can imagine most of the commuters leaving by another way. Though discouraged, we persisted and used up 1/2 of our sticker pads. After 3hrs++, CHun Wee and Daniel decided to go off earlier, leaving me to stand alone. At 1.00pm. the MRT guy probably got sick of seeing me and chased me out...so well, when next time SPCA lacks fund, they will go after SMRT,...went back to the origin and received a water bottle and a cheap certificate , so cheap that it doesnt have your name on it..guess it was due to the combined schools huge turnout of RG, SJ, SA,etc...
