Doomsday
Was walking through the desolate park by myself and at the same time thinking through several doomsday scenarios, since "isolation can do that to the mind". The park used to have a fishing pond. Now the pond is deserted. Whatever that used to be there is now gone. Ever wondered what will happen to this earth a 100 years later, where our future generations will take our stead? Hollywood has attempted to paint a few scenarios though:
Scenario 1:Matrix and Terminator, where advanced machines rule a destroyed earth.
Firstly, I don't believe Man will ever, much less fathom, be able to create sentient life out of machines. To do that is to suggest that Man can create life of his own creation, which is an exceedingly arrogant view. Machines can be programmed to kill, yes, but they cannot be programed to overwrite their own program for a new variant, ironical though it may sound.
Scenario 2:Climatic changes, such as The Day after tomorrow
Though scientists have dismissed this as a scientific fantasy, there are some truths in it. I suppose in the near future, earthquakes will occur on a more frequent basis. "The Earth itself is in rebellion against the inhabitants, for all their crimes and sins. Innocent blood has been shed, hence the revolt.", from one prominent speaker.
Scenario 3: Alien Invasion
Made famous by the War of the Worlds and Independence Day (incidentally, people actually believe that the former really took place, even though it was just a figment of imagination of H.G. Wells). Quite amusing, come to think of that. Why would a supposed more advanced alien spacecraft be interested in annihilating us from the surface of the earth, when we ourselves are doing that. Even without much intervention, Man will eventually make himself extinct (sadly, which includes the Desert Rose). After all, the "aliens" have 99.999999% of the rest of the universe to explore, why bother about us? However, I do believe that the appearances of these "aliens" (UFO, paranormal abduction)will be more common in time to come.
Having said so much, this scenario is what I gather from various sources:
Firstly, gays and lesbians will become widespread and common (which, their behaviours I seriously condemn..note I said behaviours) Already, their kinds are gathering pace in setting up "civil unions". Men will lust after men, women will lust after their kind.Sad but true in time to come. When this happens, many countries will have an exarcerbated ageing population, since young adults choose to adopt carnal, so called "liberated" and "open" lifestyles. In actual fact, they are in bondage, since they cannot and refuse to acknowledge what is morally wrong. Do you see other animals turning homosexual, even after the so called million of years of evolution? Even the theory of evolution purportedly says that homosexuality traits are selected against. (By the way, those that quote some animals do turn gays under experiments. All I have to say is that these animals are, well, subjected to experiments, where their biological pathways are unnaturally altered).
The European Union will rise, together with China, while USA will decline in terms of superpower. History tends to repeat itself, so I guess there will be a final and third World War. A character similar to Hitler will rise and unite Europe once more, though he will have an insignificant beginning. Atheistic and humanistic view will prevail, with the onset of more deadly viruses and pathogens, adding to the plethora of superbugs and "incurables". If you thought SARS was bad, the worse is yet to be.(pun though, Dingjie, don't take it too seriously). Cloning and eugenics may have reached to such an advanced level that it may be impossible for Man to age. (which can lead to more homosexuality, since Man no longer need to procreate to ensure survival). At the end, Mankind will perish from either pestilance, hunger and war, those that are left behind, by the so-called "Four Horses of Apocalypse".
Such a depressing thought though, but not all hope is lost. For now, life here in can be considered a blessing. I am thankful that at least friends, family and loved ones exist. As long as I can see a glimpse of Desert Rose safe and sound everyday, it is more than sufficient for me. :)
