Chemical Defense Training

Occured 2 weeks ago actually. Had a 2 day crash course in Selalang camp, both which were tiring. In all, the suit made us look like green Eskimos wearing a Darth Vader mask. Even the breathing was similar to the Dark Lord. "Whoooo, whoooo. Luke I am your Fatther!!" as many exhorted to each other.

Oh yes. In order to be more than 100% safe, we were taught how to use decon powder (decontamination powder) liberally like putting on baby powder. Decon . The word of the day. Can decon everything from socks and bottles to straws.

At the final day, we were subjected to tear gas, in which the sergeants gleefully exclaim that they can "make grown men cry" -.-''''. Made us do stupid things like jumping up and down (which made us sweat much more). The finale was when they made us take off the mask (?!) in a room filled with tear gas and we had to say our NRIC number and name. (and our prayers too) :S

At first I felt nothing. But as I took my first few steps towards freedom, I began to experience irritation. Arrrgghh..its like someone suddenly pour wasabe in my eyes!

And so sadly, they accomplish their mission in making us cry. If Singapore is ever subjected to chemical warfare, I think I will dig a deep hole... It is ULTRA cumbersome to wear that piece of sXXt. Even peeing is atrociously troublesome. We had to decon even our most sacred area. Like wth. I really pity those soldiers that have to do SOC in MOPP 4 ( the name of our suit). Can really literally die.

That said, a picture paints a thousand words. So here goes nothing.
