The World
Read today's Life section. If you happen to be among the rich and famous, you can buy an "island" in Dubai for between $18-61 million dollars. While Singaporeans (that is the filthy rich) can plant a flag in "France", there is no "Singapore" island to stake a claim, as it is simply too small.
For the first time in many days, I actually stayed at home for the whole day. I had been busy studying and taking occasional breaks at the LAN shop outside, which explains my hiatus from blogging. I wish I had a fraction of willpower that Thng has---to pass the "3 character tests"
My addiction to LAN was so bad at one point of time that we had to catch the last bus to home, otherwise we would be forced to either walk back to home the whole night or pay the midnight surcharge by the taxis:
12:10 a.m: Hungry Raymond as usual wanted to have a little bite on night snacks, so we went to this Malay store next to a road junction to have some stir-fried food.
12:25 a.m: The uncle was taking an unusually long time in cooking the snacks, that we became impatient. Raymond actually snatched the food from the uncle. Just then the last bus went past us.-.-'
12:27 a.m:Sprinted like mad dogs. We looked really lang bei. Misconception: Buses travel slowly.
The truth: They don't. Whatever remnants I had from my last athletic training was expended in trying to keep up with the acceleration of the bus.
12:29 a.m: Fortunately, Ginway had more stamina than me. He reached the front of the bus to stop it; I was panting with tongue sticking out at the back of the bus after running for some 800 m. People relaxing at 24-hour coffeeshops were probably wondering why four people are chasing after a bus.
12:32 a.m: Eddie Cai messaged us with concern. Quote: "You actually managed to catch the last bus?" or something similar to that effect. All the while, he was proceeding slowly to his Auntie's house nearby. Raymond tried to eat his snacks and almost vomitted.
12:35 a.m.: While seating comfortably in the bus, I recalled that we were very fortunate. If the uncle had took his time in frying, if there was no two cars that blocked the bus in front of the busstop and so on. There was actually nobody at the busstop. The bus stayed at the busstop for 30 seconds as it tried to maneuver past the two cars in the narrow street. Just 20 seconds would make a difference between 55 cents and $20. :S
Actually felt quite guilty for almost spending all my mother's money. Told myself never to LAN so late at night.
